So about a year ago, some old friends and I were
emailing back and forth every day with 'questions of the week'.

week, the question was "Who has been the most influential person in
your life so far".
I actually had more than one person, but YOU were
one of the people I mentioned.

"When
I first moved to Minneapolis is 1990, I met a girl named Ada Belinda
DancingLion.
Ada Belinda has a spirit as big as the sun. She is one of
the most amazing women I have ever met.
When I met her, I was 21 years
old, 300 miles away from home for the first time in my life,
recently
divorced and barely knew a soul in my new big city.
She literally
planted herself in my life, and cultivated me until I was in a better
place.
Ada Belinda is a healer. She was the one who introduced me to
this whole world of natural healing.
I remember hanging out in her
warehouse space (her home) that was more like a jungle.
There were big
floor to ceiling windows, a massive amount of plants, and books that
went on forever.
She would do massage and energy healing on me, brew up
special teas with herbs she grew herself, light incense and play Bob
Marley.
All I know is that every time I was over at her house, I felt
like I was in the most comfortable womb...and I never wanted to leave.
She taught me that I was always in control of how I was feeling and how
I reacted to situations.
When we met, I was holding on to a lot of
anger and resentment over my divorce.
She taught me that I could make
the choice to be the victim in my situation, or I could look at it in a
different way..
I could look at it as a blessing and take the lesson
from it, and then choose to become the co-creator of my life from then
on.
After all, if I hadn't gone through something so devastating, I
would never have discovered my new life in Minneapolis.
I cherish her
for teaching me that…and for leading my life down the right path."

A big
difference. So big, in fact, that I still feel so much gratitude 20
years later.
